Introduction

Paris in the early 70s. Gilles, a young high school student, is taken in by the political and creative turmoil of the times. Much like his friends, he is torn between his radical commitment and his personal ambitions. Through romantic encounters and artistic discoveries, Gilles and his friends' journeys take them to Italy and then London. Further down the line, they will have to make definitive choices in order to find their place in these turbulent times. Award for best screenplay at Venice 2012.

Olivier Assayas

In the 1990s Olivier Assayas emerged as one of the key figures in the new generation of French filmmakers. In the late 1970s he joined the team of influential film magazine "Cahiers du Cinéma". He collaborated on screenplays of two André Téchiné films and directed a few shorts before making his feature debut in 1986 with Disorder.
